During the 2018 MML Day the Capitol, held on January 10, 2018, Ward 3 Alderwoman Aerrione Green and Ward 4 Alderman Calvin B. Williams visited with Senator Albert Butler. Mayor Kenneth Broome and Ward 1 Alderwoman Robin Robinson attended, but are not pictured. The local leaders joined municipalities across the state in support of a bill that would increase the amount of sale tax diverted back to each city by the State of Mississippi. This increase in sales tax revenue must be used for infrastructure improvements. The best part of this proposed plan is that our town will receive additional revenue without increasing anyone’s taxes if the bill is passed.
